GET OUT OF THAT COMFORT ZONE
Some days it feels like the world is moving and you’re standing still.
Everyone seems to be getting promotions, starting businesses, traveling, ticking off goals… and you’re just here , stuck in the same place, staring at the same walls.
The bills are there. The ideas are there. The dreams are there.
But the energy? The money? The “where do I even start?” .... not so much.
It’s not that you don’t care. You do. In fact, you probably care so much that it hurts. You’ve replayed plans in your head a hundred times, but life keeps piling on reasons to pause the tired days, the unexpected expenses, the feeling that if you can’t do it perfectly, maybe you shouldn’t do it at all.
I get it......Life can put you in this strange, sticky loop where you want better for yourself, but you’re too drained, overwhelmed, or unsure to take the first step. And the more you wait, the heavier it feels, until even the smallest actions seem impossible.
But here’s the thing: you don’t need to fix everything at once. You don’t need a five-year plan right now. You just need one small move… and then another. This isn’t about shaming yourself into action or pretending you’re okay when you’re not. Think of this as a gentle nudge a reminder that change doesn’t always start with fireworks. Sometimes, it starts with the quiet decision to move, even if it’s just by an inch.
1. Do one thing , even if it’s tiny
When we’re stuck, our brain wants to fix everything all at once. That’s a trap. The weight of “everything” can be so heavy that we end up doing nothing at all. So instead, I want you to pick one thing , so small that it feels almost silly.
It could be replying to that one text you’ve been ignoring. Washing one plate. Putting ₦100 in a jar. Opening your notebook and writing just one line.
You don’t need to plan your whole future today. You just need to prove to yourself, “I can start.” That little proof is powerful. Because once you’ve done one thing, it’s easier to do the next. And then the next.
2. Create one safe, calming corner
When life feels messy, having one small, peaceful space you control can change everything. I’m not talking about a Pinterest-perfect room . I mean a corner of your bed, a chair, a spot on the floor near the window.
Clear it. Wipe it down. Maybe add something that makes you feel calm, a candle, a scarf, your journal, or just a folded blanket. This becomes your “restart spot”, where you sit when you want to think, plan, or simply breathe.
it sounds small, but here’s the truth: when the outside world feels overwhelming, your mind needs a physical reminder that peace is still possible here.
3. Make money feel less scary
When your finances are tight, it’s easy to let fear paralyze you. The numbers feel too big, the debts feel too deep, and so you just… avoid it. I know that feeling. But instead of trying to “fix your finances” in one go, zoom in on one small, winnable money anymore
Sell one thing you don’t use anymore , even if it’s just ₦500. Offer a simple service for a small fee. Or start a jar and drop in coins every day for a week.
Why this works: every time you see proof that you can make or save something , no matter how little it starts to chip away at that helpless feeling. And from there, bigger moves start to feel possible.
4. Swap one scroll for a skill
Scrolling is easy. It’s our default when we’re tired, bored, or avoiding something. But what if, just once a day, you swapped 10 minutes of scrolling for learning? Not a full course, not a huge commitment just 10 minutes.
Watch a quick tutorial on a skill you’ve always been curious about. Learn a new app. Practice typing faster. Search “how to write a CV” or “how to edit videos on my phonweek.
you’re not aiming to become a master in a week. You’re simply showing yourself, “I’m still growing, even in this season.” That’s a powerful feeling when you’ve been stuck.
5. End your day with one good thing
On tough days, our minds love to replay everything we didn’t do. But there’s always at least one thing worth noticing even if it’s as simple as “I got out of bed,” or “I made myself a cup of tea.”
Before you sleep, name one thing you’re glad you did today. You can say it out loud, write it in your phone, or whisper it to yourself. This small shift changes the tone of your day and reminds you: I’m still here. I’m still trying. I’m still moving.
Final note for you:
You don’t have to leap. You don’t have to run. You just have to start. Even if your start looks smaller than you wanted.
You are not behind. You are not broken. You’re just in a beginning. And beginnings are allowed to be slow.
With love,
